Are you getting excited about selling your home? When you look around your home, does it seem impossible to get it ready to show at an Open House? Don’t panic! It may not be as complicated as you think to get your home ready for sale.
Before you set a date for your Open House, make sure that every room is presentable and looking simple as well as clean. Don’t forget to have the basement and garage looking good too.
Begin with de-junking each room. Get rid of anything you don’t plan to move with you to your new place. Set up boxes for small items. Have one box for items you want to keep, one for things you aren’t sure about, one for throw away, and one for sale or give away.
Once the de-junking has been complete, take a look at how much furniture is in each room. Does each room look like it would belong in a model home? If not, get rid of whatever articles of furniture are making your rooms look cramped or smaller than they really are. Simplify each room as much as possible.
Next, check the condition of your windows, blinds, shades, and drapes. Your window treatments must be clean and look up-to-date. If they are not in perfect condition, replace them. It will definitely make your house more sellable. Replace any cracked windows.

ly impress prospective buyers. Linoleum that is damaged should be repaired or replaced. Nothing turns off buyers more than floors that look unsightly.
Any rooms that are carpeted should be looked over carefully. Make sure that the carpet is cleaned and deodorized, especially if you have pets. If the carpet still looks stained, old, or damage, spend the money to replace it. That step will improve the price you can get for your home.
When you are cleaning out your rooms and putting excess furniture in the basement, make sure that you have it stored neatly. Your basement should be neat and smell good. Any water damage should be repaired anywhere in your home including the basement.
Organize your garage and get rid of anything not needed. Wash garage floor. If there are a lot of oil stains, your garage floor can be painted with special paint made specifically for that purpose.
After all this is done, check out the condition of your yard. Curb appeal is very important. Prospective buyers will go right past your house if the front yard doesn’t look impressive. Keep the lawn mowed and plant grass where needed. Any holes made by a pet should be filled. Children’s toys should be kept in the garage when not being used.
Don’t forget to have the porch clean and looking appealing. Don’t forget the back yard and patio. You want prospective buyers to feel that they can relax and enjoy the outside as well as the inside of the house.
After you have completed all this, call and set up advertising for selling your home. Now you can be really excited! Before you know it, your home will be sold and you will be preparing to move.
